Scanning and locating services

Concrete, buried utilities and cable-to-ground faults require different methods. We select the equipment for the target and site conditions.

01

Concrete scanning

Locate embedded targets before coring, saw cutting or drilling.

GPR is used to locate and mark rebar, post-tension tendons, conduit and other embedded targets before cutting, coring or drilling. Access, reinforcement density and concrete condition affect the result.

02

Private utility locating

Locate private utilities that may not be included in 811 markings.

We use electromagnetic equipment to trace conductive utilities and tracer wire, then add GPR when the site supports a radar search. The work is limited to the agreed area and does not replace an 811 ticket.

03

GPR investigation

Use a focused radar survey to investigate a defined subsurface question.

A focused GPR survey can investigate buried structures, disturbed ground, possible voids or changes beneath a slab or paved surface. Soil, surface access and target depth affect what can be resolved.

04

Fault locating

Narrow the repair area for a cable-to-ground fault.

For a buried cable leaking current to ground, an A-frame follows the voltage gradient in the soil and narrows the repair area. This method does not apply to every type of cable failure.
