Service 01

Concrete scanning

Scan around planned cores, saw cuts and anchors before work begins.

Start here

When to call for this

  • Coring for plumbing, electrical or mechanical work
  • Saw cutting a slab or wall
  • Drilling anchors
  • Working on a known or suspected post-tensioned slab
  • Investigating embedded targets or slab thickness changes

Method

What we do on site

We scan the requested area with high-frequency concrete GPR around the planned cut, core or drill locations. We mark supported targets and flag areas where the response is inconclusive.

Flex NX collects standard and cross-polarized data in one pass. The compact NX25 is used for walls, ceilings and tight areas when access allows. We review the markings and limitations with the crew before leaving.

Deliverable

What you get

  1. Surface markings in the requested area
  2. Photographs of the completed markings
  3. A record of scope, findings and limitations
  4. A written report when included in the quote

The boundary

What this can’t tell you

Concrete GPR is an interpretation, not physical exposure. Dense reinforcement, metal deck, target orientation, access, moisture and concrete condition can obscure targets. A radar response alone does not prove whether a target is rebar, conduit or a tendon.

We explain what was resolved and where additional verification may be appropriate. A scan does not certify a penetration clear; appropriate cutting and drilling practices still apply.

Before the visit

Tell us where the penetration will go.

Share the proposed core, cut or anchor locations, dimensions and depth if known. Drawings and any indication of post-tensioning help us plan the scan; the surface must be accessible for the equipment.

What the markings mean

We identify supported target paths and inconclusive areas within the agreed scope. Depth estimates depend on the concrete and the radar interpretation. The cutting or drilling crew remains responsible for its work plan, and critical penetrations may need further verification.
